Welcome To Metrotown Midwifery!
Hello! My name is Negar, and I am thrilled to join Metrotown Midwifery Care as a Registered Midwife. After completing a comprehensive four-year Midwifery Education Program at the University of British Columbia, I am eager to bring my expertise and passion for midwifery to our community.
My interest in midwifery was sparked in my childhood in Northern Iran, watching my mother provide dedicated care to pregnant individuals and their families. This early exposure to the impact of midwifery on families’ lives inspired me to pursue this fulfilling career. Throughout my education and clinical placements, I have been privileged to support many families through the beautiful and transformative experiences of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. These experiences have deepened my commitment to providing holistic, personalized, and informed care.
As an immigrant, I deeply value the diversity and inclusiveness found in our community. I am committed to creating a welcoming and safe environment for all families, leveraging my fluency in English and Farsi to ensure that newcomers receive supportive and culturally sensitive care.
In my personal time, I enjoy being with my family and friends.
I am looking forward to supporting you and your family at Metrotown Midwifery Care and being a part of your journey during such a special time!

Biography
My interest in midwifery began in my childhood when I witnessed my mother giving birth to my siblings at home. Coming from a family of 6 children, I have seen the beauty and importance of pregnancy and childbirth in my own life and felt so deeply in love with it. Therefore I tried to pursue my passion and decided at a young age that I wanted to become a midwife. I passed the National Iranian Exam at the age of 18 and was accepted Kurdistan University of Medical Science, and completed a bachelor’s degree in 2002.

Congratulations on having your own practice clinic Jouanna! I had my second baby with Jouanna which was one of the best decisions I made. She is such a caring and sincere midwife, very knowledgeable. She saw me as an important individual and understood what I was going through during the emotional pregnancy period. I am so grateful she was my midwife. I Highly recommend Jouanna and I know you will be in great care during your pregnancy.
What a wonderful experience. Johanna here really made our journey smooth and as easy as possible. She is caring, empathetic, and always ready to answer questions or give support. I cannot imagine how we would choose anywhere else. She is so prompt to respond questions and always supported me throughout my pregnancy and postpartum.
This was my first full-term pregnancy and she was nothing short of exceptional. I honestly couldn’t have asked for better care. She is so loving caring gentle kind and the best hype man you could ask for during birth. Since the first day I was under her care I just knew there was something special about her. She’s one of those people who don’t come around very often in life … And when you meet them .. you keep them near and dear to your heart.
Jouanna is a fantastic midwife and a lovely person. I felt very well supported and cared for throughout my pregnancy, home birth, and postpartum. I highly recommend Midwifery Care and would definitely go back with my second baby.
